Elisabeth Bronfen has authored a new book titled Angesteckt: Zeitgemässes über Pandemie und Kultur, which will appear in August 2020.
Published by Echtzeit, the book is an analysis of the COVID-19 pandemic as a cultural moment.
Responding to the urgent need to think of the pandemic from a cultural perspective, Prof. Bronfen investigates how we make sense of the pandemic in relation to existing cultural narratives and how we it becomes an instrument in the weaving of new ones.
As it touches on notions of contingency and fragility, the book highlights the relevance of the imagination in the consideration and reaction to current circumstances.
The book is in German and can be pre-ordered here.
